“This was my first writer’s retreat and I definitely plan to do more. Artcroft provided a beautiful setting for uninterrupted work on numerous writing projects. It was like a haven from the many demands of the outside world. My productivity there was amazing, writing some 55,000 words during my two-week stay. And Robert and Maureen Barker couldn’t have been kinder hosts.”

Ridgeline

I will dream often of walking
a bit crippled, borrowed staff in hand
Imagine myself barefoot, though not,
to the crest of the hill where the tree stands.
Overseer of far attendant lands, the ridges folding
into each other, their gentle blanket made, I
think, just for me.
Come, says the tree, pitch a tent sometime,
live a day or two enfolded in the graceful beauty
I am old upon.
Learn from one small journey, once again
how love becomes a place.
